From TV Journalist to Powerhouse Attorney
Your Next Big Move: Baby Steps to Your Powerhouse Potential
As we close out the year, many of us find ourselves asking: What’s next?
The pressure to make bold moves or completely overhaul our careers can feel overwhelming. But what if the secret to success wasn’t about massive leaps, but instead about small, consistent steps?
In a recent episode of the Powerhouse Lawyers Podcast, I sat down with Juliet Peters, lawyer, entrepreneur, and founder of Framework Legal, to talk about her incredible journey. From TV journalist to powerhouse attorney and business owner, Juliet’s story was a masterclass in reinvention, resilience, and the power of taking things one step at a time.
The Myth of the Big Move
Juliet shared something that struck a chord: “The next big move isn’t a leap—it’s baby steps.”
Too often, we’re told that success requires grand gestures, big risks, or shiny, Instagram-worthy moments. But the truth is, transformation happens in the small, daily actions we take—one purposeful step at a time.
This is a reminder to all of us: You don’t need to have the entire staircase figured out. Just take the next step.
👉 Ask yourself: What’s one small, actionable step I can take today that aligns with my goals?
Why Women Are Built for Entrepreneurship
During our conversation, Juliet highlighted something I’ve always believed: Women have an innate skill set that makes them exceptional entrepreneurs.
From managing competing priorities to building meaningful relationships, women are natural multitaskers and problem-solvers. Yet, despite these strengths, we often hold ourselves back with self-doubt or fear of failure.
As Juliet said, “The biggest barrier isn’t external—it’s internal. Women need to believe they are capable, because they are.”
The Power of Community
One of the most impactful parts of Juliet’s journey—and my own—has been the transformative power of community.
Entrepreneurship and law can both be lonely roads, especially for women. The weight of trying to do it all, be it all, and figure it out alone is immense. But when women come together, the energy shifts.
At my most recent retreat for women law firm owners, I witnessed this magic firsthand. Seven incredible women spent three days collaborating, sharing, and lifting each other up. By the end, they weren’t just colleagues—they were sisters in the journey, committed to helping one another build and grow.
Community is where accountability meets inspiration. When we come together, we remind each other of our strengths and open doors we never imagined.
Delegation: An Act of Empowerment
One of the most practical takeaways from my conversation with Juliet was her perspective on delegation.
We often view delegation as a weakness—as if asking for help diminishes our worth. But Juliet reframed it beautifully:
“Delegation isn’t just about freeing yourself—it’s about empowering someone else to step into their strengths.”
When we let go of tasks outside our genius zone, we don’t just lighten our own load. We create opportunities for others to grow and thrive.
This was a lightbulb moment for me. Delegation isn’t about losing control—it’s about gaining more time, focus, and energy for what truly matters.
A Call to Action for 2025
As we prepare to step into a new year, let’s rewrite the narrative.
Success doesn’t come from a single, shiny moment. It’s built on the foundation of small, consistent actions, taken with purpose.
So here’s my challenge to you:
- Take one small step toward a goal that excites you.
- Find a community or mentor who can support and inspire you.
- Give yourself permission to delegate and focus on what lights you up.
